ELECTRICAL POWER SYSTEM ENGINEERING AND CONSULTING
FIELD SERVICES
Infrared Inspections: A periodic infrared inspection is the most cost-effective method of predictive maintenance that can be performed on electrical equipment and facilities. Many electrical problems can be found early in their development during an inspection, allowing for repairs to be made before the equipment fails. IES personnel have been trained and certified and are experienced in making infrared surveys on all types of electrical equipment.
Electrical Safety Audits: The effectiveness of your electrical safety program is crucial to the safety of your electrical workers. IES can come to your site and audit your program for compliance to OSHA regulations and other standards and codes.
Forensic Investigations: After an electrical equipment failure or event it is important to determine what went wrong and how to keep it from happening again, IES will review all of the information available, examine the failed equipment and discover the cause of the failure. We can recommend changes in the design and/or operation of your electrical system that will help prevent it from happening again. We also can serve as expert witnesses in any litigation that might result.
Power Quality Monitoring: Today’s electrical equipment is more susceptible to electrical power quality problems than ever before. Harmonics, voltage sags, spikes or power interruptions can adversely affect your plant’s operation. The problems may be generated by your equipment or it may be coming from your electric utility. IES can monitor and analyze your electrical power waveforms to help determine the source of the problem and to develop solutions to improve your electric power quality.
Troubleshooting: Unexplained electrical problems such as intermittent tripping of circuit breakers or electrical equipment running hot can be frustrating and disruptive. IES personnel are equipped to perform field testing to diagnose the problems and then develop solutions for them.
